Hollywood Studios opening show
Hollywood
Studios is one of two parks in Walt Disney World (the other being
Magic Kingdom) that feature both an opening and closing show. Although
the opening show isn't a 'must see' experience, Fantasmic!, the
closing fireworks and water show more than makes up for it!
If you miss this opening show, you really won't be missing much.
As the streets of Hollywood Boulevard slowly become packed, 'the
producer' and his bumbling assistant perform a hokey skit about
how they need everyone to help open the park
by saying "lights, camera, action!" The crowd in line are the 'extras'
for the scene, and one lucky family is chosen to become the 'stars'.
After a rehearsal (do we REALLY need to practice saying three words?)
and a countdown, the extras say their line, and the family adds,
"Hollywood here we come!" as the rope drops to let the guests in.
It goes on far too long, and by the time the park opens, you're
truly glad it's over.
Fantasmic!
Hollywood Studios park closing show
The
Fantasmic! closing show at Disney's Hollywood Studios is unique
in that it is part pyrotechnics, part stage show, part parade, and
TOTAL entertainment! The show takes place nightly in front of nearly
7,000 guests in Hollywood Studios outdoor amphitheater.
While the production will never earn an award for its plot, it
does feature Mickey in the role of Sorcerer's Apprentice battling
hoards of evil Disney characters.
While it's a little scary for the younger kidsat times, it should
be fine for most. One cool effect is when film images are projected
onto a screen of cascading water- very unique indeed!
One way to guarantee your seat at this always packed show is to
book the Fantasmic! Dinner Package. You'll choose whether to eat
at the Brown Derby, Mama Melrose, or Hollywood & Vine restaurants,
and then be guaranteed priority seating for that night's extravaganza!
A great way to enjoy a great show!
